2023 W-2, W-3, 1099 and 1096 form requirements

New to 2023 - The Federal 1099 and 1096 forms no longer print on the red preprinted forms. These forms will now be printed directly to printer paper.

Below you will find the 2023 form requirements for Sage BusinessWorks Enhanced Tax Reporting (AAtrix):

W-2 and W-3 Forms

Employee Copy

Printed on blank 4-up perforated paper with instructions on back

Forms available thru Sage Checks and Forms Item Number LW2BLANK4 and LW2BK4DWS bundle with envelopes

Federal Copies

Print on blank paper and print in a 2-up format. *Do not use the Preprinted red ink form

No forms need to be purchased. *Substitute form on plain paper is accepted by The Social Security Administration

Employer copies

Print on plain 4-up perforated paper

No forms need to be purchased

State copies

Print on plain paper and print in 4-up format.

No forms need to be purchased

W-3 Form

Prints on plain paper. *Do not use the Preprinted red ink form

No forms need to be purchased

 

1099 and 1096 forms

Before you begin:

  • At this time1099-NEC support is included with Sage BusinessWorks 2021 and higher
  • Ensure you order enough Blank 4 part perforated forms as both the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC print using the blank 4-up forms
  • 1099-Misc instructions are not included on the bank of the blank form. The instructions will be available to print during the processing of the recipient copy

Contact your State agency for specific printing requirements. *Some states do not require 1099’s to be filed

1096

Prints on plain paper. No red forms required.
