Error message - Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset

Working with a client and trying to repair AR balance error on one matter. Fixed one successfully. When tried to rebuild AR on second matter, got message "Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset". 

Makes no sense. Have not yet run database verification because need to coordinate with IT person for access to server. Anyone seen this message before?

    You should be able to run DV across the network without any issues, Caren.  Local machine does nothing other than ask the SQL server component to perform the function for the most part.

    Usually this is a transient error and resolves by closing Timeslips and re-opening it.
