NEW SLIP : HOW TO CHANGE ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR FRENCH ? IT MARKS WORDS IN RED.

SOLVED

Good morning,

I just bought the new 2019 version (I used to  work with the 2005 version).

But I need to write slips in french language.

When I do so, the french words are written in red, and the bell rings. (I know Christmas is coming)

I guess I have to swith to french, but i cannot find the way to do it.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

What you are seeing is the effect of the spell checking engine.  If the word is not in the dictionary that the engine uses, it displays it in red and chimes.

The spell checking engine is licensed from a company called Wintertree.  I do not believe that Timeslips has arranged to license their French Dictionary, only the American, British, Legal American, Legal British, Canadian and Technical dictionaries.

So you can do a couple of things.  1) as Caren has already suggested, continue to use the English dictionaries and ADD these "new" words to your personal dictionary and essentially build your own French word dictionary.  Make sure and put that file in a safe place and back it up.  The default location is on the local hard drive and if your hard drive "crashes" or has to be replaced, you would lose all those added words, which would be a bummer. 2) You can turn OFF the spell checker completely since it is unable to assist you.  You do this under Setup, Preferences, Spelling/Grammar, General.  You would want to UNcheck the options to "Visually indicate errors" (this is what makes the words Red), and Audibly indicate errors as you type (causing the dinging).

    Hope that helps.
