Timeslips does not have a French version. However you can create a personal dictionary and add words to it and then the words will not be marked

What you are seeing is the effect of the spell checking engine.  If the word is not in the dictionary that the engine uses, it displays it in red and chimes.  

The spell checking engine is licensed from a company called Wintertree.  I do not believe that Timeslips has arranged to license their French Dictionary, only the American, British, Legal American, Legal British, Canadian and Technical dictionaries.

So you can do a couple of things.  1) as Caren has already suggested, continue to use the English dictionaries and ADD these "new" words to your personal dictionary and essentially build your own French word dictionary.  Make sure and put that file in a safe place and back it up.  The default location is on the local hard drive and if your hard drive "crashes" or has to be replaced, you would lose all those added words, which would be a bummer. 2) You can turn OFF the spell checker completely since it is unable to assist you.  You do this under Setup, Preferences, Spelling/Grammar, General.  You would want to UNcheck the options to "Visually indicate errors" (this is what makes the words Red), and Audibly indicate errors as you type (causing the dinging).
