2012 - Time & Expense List is not showing slips ...?

Hi All -

We are running a server based version of 2012.  I have never had any problem with this issue, but today, after entering timeslips for the entire month of June, I went to the Time & Expense Slips, entered the date range and my timekeeper ID to see my total billing for June.  The box is blank.  When I go back to 'Enter a Time Slip" and click the back arrow, I see all my June slips are there.  And they are listed if I select "Slip List" from the navigation page and click on View By ID.  But I use the Time & Expense Slips function both to see my time (and my employees' time) by month, as well as all time, all expenses, or both billed to a client. 

I have reviewed other posts with similar but not identical problems, and have selected "restore all dialog settings to their defaults" in Setup => Preferences => Appearance, and that did not do anything. 

Any suggestions or does this just mean I have to suck it up and upgrade?

    When you did the restore all windows did you have all windows in Timeslips closed? Give it another try. If that doesn't work I would close the program and delete your prefs.prf file and your Timeslip.ini file. You will need to recreate your preferences but it should work. After that would run data verification with just look for errors checked. If there are errors we will need to fix them. If none of that works would need eyes on to fix. Not convinced upgradeviscthe answer although it may make sense for other reasons

    When you tried the "restore all dialogs" option, did you make sure that the slip list window was closed before you did it?

    Sounds like a bad filter somewhere, but hard to tell without looking at it remotely.

    I don't think an upgrade is in order just for this.

    Hi Caren - Yes, all windows in TS were closed when I clicked on restore all windows. So, I closed the program and deleted my prefs.prf file. I did not find a Timeslip.ini file. I ran the data verification and found 3 errors, all of which state "The field [Bill Stage] contains corrupted or illegal data" and, although I am not 100% sure, I believe these 3 relate to 3 clients which have been giving me problems for years, with an error that I cannot close the client because there is a bill in the revision stage, but nothing shows in the revision or proof stages for those clients.

    Another clue - I tried running bill for one client and the new June slips do not appear on the bill. When I select the client in Billing Assistant, the total due includes the amount billed for June.

    So strange to me ... any other ideas?

    Hi Nancy -

    Yes, the slip window was closed. The "bad filter" concept makes sense to me given the slips are in there, and it's just not "seeing" them for some reason.

    Any other ideas?

    Make a backup. Working on the server or a local copy of the machine do data verification with repair validation errors checked. If this fixes the errors and the issue great. If not you will need to work with one of us who are certified consultants or support to fix the issues
