Ent. Mgmt. - What are TRTPROP & SQLDICO functions and what can they do for you?

1 minute read time.

How many times have you looked at Sage Enterprise Management and noticed a new Menu item or function?

Today is another day and another useful function/menu, so let's start with Database properties (Function TRTPROP)

You can run this function from Development, Utilities, Verifications, Database, Properties.

Before we get to some useful information that this tool provides, if you look at online help for this tool, you will see below.

So when you run this function , which give you properties of your database, there are some information that are useful and readily available to you.

  • Database version and the collation method use during installation.

  • On the Basis tab, you have last time that a back up was done.

  • Other important database properties, such as is_read_commited_snapshot_on ( which you can read about consequences , if this property is changed in KB 65528)

Conclusion : As you noticed, you in fact, can get some detailed information from your database without having access to your database and contacting your DBA.

The second function , I like to present to you today is Search Index(SQLDICO)

You can run this function from Development, Utilities, Verifications, Database, Search Index and if you search the online help you will see below.

So when you run this tool, you will get a log file similar to below, and one thing that is interesting is the number of indexes that are in the database but are not in the table dictionary.( did someone create the index directory in database and you are worried folder validation will remove the custom index !!!)
