Sage Enterprise Intelligence: How To example on populating the Map table used by the SEI Sales Cube so Longitude and Latitude can be plotted on Map style worksheets

Less than one minute read time.

One of the cool abilities of Sage Enterprise Intelligence (SEI) is the ability to plot information on graphic worksheets for easy absorption of data by visual learners. One type of worksheet available is the Map graph.

Since SEI is a worldwide product, the Map table is not pre-populated with City, State/Province, Country, Longitude and Latitude data. It is incumbent upon the end customer or their support staff to populate this table according to their needs..

The attached document provides an example of how this may be accomplished using a U.S.A postal code database which is free to download (as of the writing of this article). This process can be accomplished by someone with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and access to the Microsoft SQL Management Studio.

Notes:

  • Always back up data prior to altering data in SQL
  • This process is outside the scope of support for Sage Customer Support, with the exception listed next for X3 Cloud customers.
  • For X3 Cloud customers: The file used for updating data in SQL must be attached to a Support Ticket and sent to our X3 Cloud team for the Insert activity.
