Moving fro Pervasive to SQL

Hello,

We are finally going to take the plunge and move over to the SQL version of Estimating but had a few simple (hopefully) questions that my Reseller is not being helpful with and I do not want to pay Sage to answer since it is basically just preinstall questions.

1-Does Estimating SQL still connected to the Sage 300 Address book in any manner or is the address book completely Estimating only now?

2-I see I need to install a specific license server just for Estimating.  Any issues with it being on the same machine as the license server for Sage CRE 17.1?

3-Can I install the SQL version of Estimating on a machine that has Pervasive Estimating and keep both available at the same time until the cut over is fully complete?  This would allow for testing of the new version.

Thanks for anyone that can shed some light on these questions...

A nice Sage rep replied to an email I sent them (with answers to the above).  After 6-7 hours of installing and trying to fine tune issues with the default install I am now to the point that I can get into SQL Estimating but only if I turn off security.  I have spent more time with this install than the last 10 years of dealing with Pervasive Estimating issues.  A bit worrisome.   I did the install on a fresh server as well.

1-Yes, it does connect. When you migrate data from Pervasive over to SQL, you will be given an option to also migrate the Address Book.

2-The current version of Sage Estimating SQL no longer uses License Manager, so it will not interfere with the current install of License Manager. The licenses are activated through our entitlement server with your Account ID and Registration Name.

3-Yes, since Sage Estimating SQL and Sage Estimating Pervasive uses different database engines, you can have both installed side by side with no issues. We have customers who do this before cutting over to SQL completely. The 17.1 version will continue to use License Manager and the SQL version will use the entitlement server for license when you run the program.
