BusinessWorks AR issue

SUGGESTED

We have several INCORRECT open credits and deposits in our AR system under existing customers.  They show up because payments were entered incorrectly.  The postings are YEARS old and we would like to get them off the records without changing our accounting data, reports, profits, etc.

Can anyone help with this?  Is it even possible?

For auditing purposes, there is no way to remove, adjust or post a transaction without it posting or changing your data, reports, profits, etc.

If you would like to remove an open credit (or an open deposit), you can do a debit memo to the open credit (or deposit) and in distribution you can distribute to bad debt or another field of your choice.

To review how the entries posted to your General Ledger, you can then review the GL, Reports, Journal reports on these transactions. If you and your accountant feel you need to do additional journal entries from there, you can do then in GL, Journal, Post to Journals.

There are some Knowledge Base articles regarding writing off or reversing open credits. Please see How to write off open credits as bad debt (39650); How to reverse an open credit or customer deposit (17901)

    Thanks,

Thank you, Colleen.  I'll pass that word to my boss and review those articles to see if I glean anything that may help.
