Thanks Janice but it doesn't specify how to get the local wage deferred - it only deals with federal and state.

Local tax in BusinessWorks is processed by creating your own deductions for your company.  (see How to set up a local or city income tax (38275)).  There is no option to exclude one deduction calculation from another.  In BusinessWorks, the only options we have to calculate deductions are listed within the Method options in Maintain Deductions.  Sometimes people can be creative and use other Methods - like "Percent of state taxable pay" for example -  to get their local deduction to calculate based on the taxable pay they need.  Otherwise, if you have more questions on what options are available to you, I would have you work directly with a support analyst by calling 800-447-5700.
