2018 service pack 1 and 2017 service pack 4 are not to be installed until after all 2017 year-end tasks have been completed. The tax table updates included in this service pack are for calendar year 2018 and installing them prior to completing 2017 year-end may cause issues processing W-2s and year-end reports. If the service pack was installed prior to completing year-end processing see KnowledgeBase article, 71870, "What happens if the tax table update has been installed too early?" for instructions on how to resolve.
If 2018 service pack 1 or 2017 service pack 4 was installed before W-2s are printed you will need to reinstall the Sage BusinessWorks program and service packs.
If you are currently on Sage BusinessWorks Version 2018 and installed SP1 before printing W-2s you will need to reinstall the Sage BusinessWorks Version 2018 and not install the SP1 until after you have processed your W-2s and year-end documents.
If you are currently on Sage Businessworks Version 2017 and installed SP4 you will need to reinstall Sage BusinessWorks Version 2017 and then install Sage BusinessWorks SP3. Do not install SP4 until after you have processed W-2s.
When are the new Tax Tables going to be available due to the new Tax Plan?
Is it a problem if you don't use the Payroll module?
OR you could just restore your backup of the previous year, rename it "company2017" and do your W-2s from there. Far easier
