Opening Simply Accounting error messages

Hi,

My Simply accounting program has been working fine until I tried opening it today and got an error message:

"Simply Accounting cannot open the database because some database files are read-only. Please ensure you have sufficient rights to the files, then try again."

and

"Cannot understand the date. Be sure you have entered the date in a standard format and verify that it is a valid calendar date."

I have not changed anything since the last time I worked in my files. Can you help?

Hi Dalal,

Please have a look at the KB article written.

Error: "Sage 50 can't open the database because some database files are read only" when trying to open the program locally - KB10411

Thank you. What worked is copy pasting the folder and file to a new location and renaming it.

I then opened the company - all is good. I saved as a new file name. Should I delete the one I could not open?

Hi Dalal,

Glad to hear your problem is resolved.

You can delete the one that you cannot open if you find no more use of it.
