Getting started with the student version of Sage 50 CA

Studying is hard work, see below for commonly asked questions regarding the registration for, install and activation of the Sage 50CA Student Version.

The student version will last for 14 months after registration. This should be enough time to complete your Sage 50 course. Should you require additional time, please speak to your instructor. Students can continue to use the software by purchasing a copy of the Premium edition or higher. Data from other Sage 50 Accounting products cannot be opened with this download. Only student version formatted data can be opened.

 How to access this training?

Log onto www.sageu.com for access.

If you are new to Sage University, you will be required to create your profile as follows:

  1. Click the select your product link, then click the link for the product
  2. Click the create your profile link on the upper left side of the page
  3. Enter in all the information, including:
    1.  Sage account number: this ties any active Sage service plans to this profile. If unknown, type don’t know. If no account number yet, type NA
    2.  Company name: if no company name, put first and last name
    3. Country: to select click on the arrow to the right
    4. New password / confirm password: enter in a desired password 6 – 20 characters’ long

  4. Click the Login button at the bottom of the screen

If you are a Current customer you need to logon to Sage University using your login details.

On the main landing page on Sage University under Get started, there will be a link called Level 1: Learn the Basics. Sage Accountants Network members can access Click on the link and follow the instructions to load the free training onto your profile. By creating your profile you have access to all online courses (some only available by purchase by contacting Sage 50 CA sales at 1-888-261-9610) and the calendar listing of all classroom training.

How to register the student version ?

After registering, students receive an email with their username, serial code and activation code for a specific version of Sage 50 (2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017 etc.).

Step 1: Open a web browser and go to http://reg.sage50accounting.ca/keyreg/student/

Step 2: Fill in the form with the required information.

Step 3: Wait for a confirmation email from Sage Education.

Step 4: Use the Serial number and Key code in the email to activate your Sage 50 program.

Step 5: These codes can be used again if ever you reinstall the program.

How to download the student version ?

After registering, make sure to download the Sage 50 software version that corresponds to your codes received in Step 3 see link: https://www.sage.com/ca/about-us/education

How to activate the student version?

The Student version has no Account ID, so if you encounter a field requiring this number during product activation then you've installed the regular version instead of the student version.

Step 1 : Uninstall the software

Step 2 : Download and run this utility: http://simplydownload.accpac.com/downloads/SimplyAccounting/students/StudentVerCleanUp.zip

Step 3 : Re-download the student version through this link http://www.sage.com/ca/about-us/education and use the same activation codes.

Why are my activation codes invalid ?

Please double check the version (2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017) of Sage that you have installed, and the codes that you received upon registration. Chances are that they do not match. Return to the registration page, and see Step 3, make sure to select the exact product that you have installed for a new set of codes that will work.

Also try entering your name as per registration into the Company Name field:

Why haven't I received my activation code ?

First check your junk/spam folder. If you really haven't received anything, register again and ensure that you have entered in your email address correctly.
