Easy Integration Solutions for payments and more

3 minute read time.

There's an easier way to get your money. If you are an internet business and you want to get paid, there are some 3rd party integrations available on the market (use the site www.sagepss.com for more options) such as eBridge for integrating data between products like Sage 50 Canadian Edition and the leading eCommerce platforms and marketplaces, such as Magento, Bigcommerce and Amazon, hundreds of EDI trading partners, and CRM applications such as Salesforce.com. Check out their website here.

What's the easiest integration option for payments though?

NEW to Sage 50 release 2018.2, is the Invoice Payments feature which allows your customers to instantly pay their invoice online. On your end you can setup either Stripe or Paypal to manage these payments.

Note: This feature requires a Sage 50cloud subscription, here are the steps on how to set up the new Invoice Payments feature

Also Note: only CAD (Canadian currency) is supported at the moment, so invoices and the client's profile need to be set to CAD.

What is Stripe?

Stripe is marketed as a Pay-As-You-Go or an Enterprise "complete payments platform engineered for growth [solution that] currently supports popular payment methods around the world."  Once you’re set up, transfers arrive in your bank account on a 7-day rolling basis (in Canada). Stripe has an API which integrates with Sage 50 behind the scenes, while Paypal would forward users to the PayPal site.

  • This may be a drawback for those seeking to collect data on who their customers are.

Extension / Add-ons options: Card Readers and POS options

What is Paypal?

If you process few transactions and are looking for something simple, PayPal is likely a good option for you. Money received is held in your PayPal account which you then must transfer to your bank account. This can take 3-5 business days to complete. An "instant transfer" option might be available however.

Paypal processes 25 currencies in over 200 markets and it's also allowing the development of "branded apps that enable credit or debit card payments in-store using PayPal card readers. With a PayPal Here card reader, PayPal manages the PCI compliance so merchants and partners don't have to navigate complex compliance requirements"- developer.paypal.com

Looks like you can order a Paypal Here Card Reader (for iPhone, iPad or Android smartphones) in Canada already!  see this link to get yours and you can integrate a classic receipt printer*

Tip: In the USA, there are more options right now for PayPal to work as a POS (Point-of-sale) system than in Canada. Find the listing of available vendors here, then go on http://www.sagepss.com/ to see if the vendor is a Sage partner with a integration solution available for Sage 50 (important if you want to have your client invoices marked paid*). You can search for US and or Canadian products. Lastly, you can contact one of our developer partners directly to hire them to try and enable the PayPal Here Card Reader to work with your PayPal business branded app which may then connect to Sage 50, contact one of our Sage Accounting Network developer partners using the Sage Match site.
