Every version 2019 desktop client installed from workstation setup is unable to run global search. We get an error after about 30 seconds, and the global search screen does not appear.
"A problem occurred and the search could not be performed. Contact your system administrator for help"
Global search works fine on the server installation of Sage 300.
This is the case for every workstation installation we have carried out at a number of sites, so makes me think we are doing something wrong, but no idea what. Anyone seen this?
I've never been able to see this feature running, it does nothing on all my installs. Fortunately, none of my clients are asking for it.
Wow , if Jay cant get it going no wonder I cant.
SAGE, can you please pull your socks up here and do two things: 1. update the tool so it works, out of the box, most of the time, on TS, and on Workstations. On the classic screens. If this is super hard, please write a wizard that steps us through all the niggly steps. Seriously.
2. Release an updated Knowledgeable article with extensive troubleshooting, not the shallow info on KB93197.And include it with the documentation on site. Eg From KB 93197 we see "Port 8001 needs to be open on both server and workstation." My responses - WHAT server? I have 3 on many clients. DB, App, RD - Inbound / outbound? - HOW do we do this? Throw us a bone. We can all Google, but get specific. EG Give a list of all possible errors and their exact solutions. Not that hard - Steve has kindly listed an error for you in this thread.
Until you sort both 1 and 2 above this much touted feature is a dud.
Again, if Jay cant get it going, we are all toast.

Agreed, Sage is really letting us down.
