Payroll Subscription

Is anyone else having problems with Sage renewing their payroll subscription?

I had some issues a couple of weeks ago with the Sage 100 payroll subscriptions not updating to the server even though the partner portal said they were up to date.   This was NOT the issues from a year or two back as the clients were on fully updated versions of 2017.  Of course they came up the day before I left for vacation and Sage tech support was swamped.

Tech support called these clients back directly and resolved it for them.  I did not get any feedback as to exactly what was going on.  :(

It seems Sage doesn't have time for their customers.  They finally resolved the renewal issue after about 15 emails.  They charged our credit card for the payroll subscription and I never received a confirmation email for this charge as promised.  I would never recommend Sage to anyone. The payroll system is full problems.  Yesterday I found a deduction type, within a deduction code, changed for one employee.  It changed from employer contribution to cafeteria.  How does that happen to only one employee for the same deduction code? :(

For the most part, from what I understand (second hand), Support doesn't have access to deal with key / registration issues... because that system is managed by sales staff.  Of course, sales and support don't work closely together, and partners / customers are caught in the middle.

For registration issues I believe there is an escalation process... but I agree this is very poorly handled and needs to be changed.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

It is rare, but I have seen what you describe a  couple of times over 25 years of working with Sage 100/MAS 90.  I think it something to do with when you edit an employee's deductions and it gets mixed up as to which deduction is being edited.  I've never been able to duplicate it to show anyone (just hate those kinds of bugs).  It's easy enough to fix with Data File Display and Maintenance.

Overall, Sage 100 payroll is pretty stable.   And to be perfectly honest,  just about any payroll system you work with will have little bugs here and there.   The nice thing about Sage is that if you do have a major problem they are pretty responsive.   I remember applying and update many years ago that broke something and was preventing us processing a payroll.  Since I always do a backup before installing any patch, we restored and got the payroll out.  Reported the problem to Sage and they had a fix the very next day.
