Error installing 25.1.128.0 update

SUGGESTED

I have tried to run the version 25.1.128.0 update several times now, each time the data access component fails to register.  I have carried out the following options and still no joy, anyone any suggestions, currently this will leave none of my staff able to work on Monday as it is the server that won't update.

OS is Windows Server 2012 R2

Right clicked and ran the update package as administrator

1. ran the visual c++ redistrituable 2015 update and repair as per Sage site.

2. opened %temp% and tried to update only the Data Access Component update

All options result in the exact same error.

    Hi Pamela,

Do you know if you have the full program Sage 50 program installed on the sever or just the Sage 50 Data Service?

Can you tel me what the full version number you’re trying to upgrade from?

I’d also want to know what the error code and full error message is that installer presents at the end of the installation?

If possible could you try and restart the sever and try the install again?

    Regards,

    Ian

We do have the full version on the server, it is currently 25.1.121

    The error is

The installation was interrrupted before Sage 50 accounts could be successfully installed.

To find out how to fix this problem please click here.

Package Sage 50 Accounts V25 Data Access Components Update 1 returned code 1603

    (Error_Install_Failure)

Error 1904: Module C:\Windows\Syswow64\sg50sddoEngine250.dll failed to register

    HResult-2147024770.

    Contact your support personnel.

The update has run ok on my laptop which has windows 10

I have restarted the server a couple of time and get the same issue.

The updates from 25.0 to 25.1 and 25.1.121 all ran fine at the time.

    Hi Pamela,

Can you try the following for me.

Go to C:\Windows\SysWow64 and find sg50sdoengine250.dll can you rename this to have the word ‘old’ in front and run the installer again.

    Ian

That didn't work so I uninstalled version 25 and did the install via temp folder. Somehow I then ended up with just the individual components and no full sage version. 23, 24 and 25 all had gone.

I have now removed ADM and  all versions of Sage and trying to reinstall 24 & 25.

Data access component stuck half way thought at midnight last night so gave up and restarted server to try again today.

I have not had this much of an issue with updates since version 21

    Hi Pamela,

V25.1.128.1 can be downloaded as a full program rather than an update from the download section of MySage, This would go over the top of previous versions of v25. I would of maybe tried installing that before the approach you’ve taken but both options should in theory of worked.

It sounds like something’s not right somewhere and this may be easier to troubleshoot in real time, i’d recommend contacting support via webchat or on 0845 111 5555 who can trouble shoot further and supply you with the correct answer.

I will try downloading the full program. The sage programs had all started playing up on Friday with the old 'server is busy' error I had thought it was because of this update causing issues but now I wonder.

Normally I would have called tech support but every time I tried it was going to be 75 minutes wait

Something sounds like it’s not right somewhere. Hopefully the full install will help resolve it.

I know tech support is very busy at the moment. Sage have plans to increase the number of people answering the phones starting from tomorrow so hopefully we’ll see those call times fall. If you’re able to ring at 8am you’ll get straight through. Starts to get busy after 9am.

Am I the only one who is getting the installer stuck at this stage of the Data Access Component set up, the previous 3 times I gave up and cancelled, this time I have left it.  I have now spent most of this weekend tryign to get Sage back working so I don't have 3 employees sitting on their hands tomorrow.

We haven't had any reports of this particular problem although this issue isn't unique to v25.1.128.0, this error could happen to any Sage 50 that has a data service so v21 - v25. I'm sorry you've not been able to resolve it yourself, the support team will be able to help on Monday.
