We would like to uniform the way our customer and supplier accounts are set up on Sage.
Is it possible to amend the account reference or set up a new account and merge with the existing account?
Thank you.

I've used the Code Changer tools from Advantage Services to do this. Depending on which version you choose, you can change customer codes, nominals, departments, etc and the change filters through…
I am pretty certain that this idea has been submitted before. Sometimes Sage could be more helpful to point the member to one such suggestion so that we start voting on single ideas and pooling the votes…
Hi
I can see that this has already been logged as an idea quite a few times. It seems quite crazy to me that there isn't a simple way of doing this.
Hi Emma,
Thanks for using Sage City.
It’s not currently possible to change account references in Sage 50 or 50cloud Accounts. However, you can log this as a suggestion to improve our Sage 50cloud Accounts software on our Ideas Board.
To log your idea select Submit an idea and then complete the form.
Once logged, we’ll be able to use your idea and help us to shape your Sage software. Other customers will also be able to vote on your idea.

Once you’ve set up your new customer and supplier records and in time you don’t need to see your old ones, you can mark them as inactive. See https://ask.sage.co.uk/scripts/ask.cfg/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=31094
I wonder whether it’s possible to move your old transactions to your new customer and supplier records by doing the following.
1. Export the unpaid transactions as a csv file.
2. Import those transactions as credit notes into the “old” supplier accounts.
3. Import the same transactions as invoices into the “new” supplier accounts.

Many users of this forum know from experience that unfortunately there seems to be no consolidation and coordination of multiple requests by Sage, for the same idea or thing, so we end up with multiple "ideas" with one or 2 votes each - and consequently, the ideas are unlikely to ever see the light of day.
It would also be helpful if there was occasional feedback on such ideas so that forum members know they are being read. I recently collated one idea that was combined of six individual requests over the past few years, and NOT ONE of the six has been acknowledged or commented on and neither was my collated request.
Just saying.
