I've been working at a small business for 5 years. I have knowledge of Sage300 and Quickbooks but the business uses Sage BusinessVision (Version 7.92.01) and I feel like I'm working in the stone age.

There is no way (that I can see) to generate a backup directly from BV, the business from whom I purchased the initial licence (9-10 years ago) continue to tell me that there is no way to do this.

Plus I've gotten so accustomed to the ease of use with Sage300 & Quickbooks that I'm not sure what to do next. Should I simply move all data files to a new program? Or find a way around this issue?

There are other nice things too from the other programs that make this seem ancient, such as, notifications, calendars, etc.

    Thanks,

  • for backups we copy the data files for the business onto a external hard drive in two ways.

1st I have created a briefcase folder of the data file on my desktop to which the external drive, be it a USB stick or hard drive, and update the files daily.

2nd we have the sever backup to an external hard drive every night.

The provider set us up with an icon on the desktop that allows us to do a backup to USB for daily use. I am finding that it is taking longer to do a back up, around 15-20 minutes. It seems that BV is doing a complete backup when we do this instead of only updating the parts missing from that days current work.

Any thoughts on how to change that?

it could be a dos command string in a batch file they wrote that launches when you click on it. I haven't done anything in dos for years.
