Importing Purchase Entries - Importing Account coding

SUGGESTED

Hi,

I'm looking to import purchase transactions into Sage through an .imp import file but based on the following resource, there doesn't seem to be a field where I can select the account coding for my transactions.

https://support.na.sage.com/selfservice/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=41370&sliceId=1&noCount=true&isLoadPublishedVer=&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_Article&stateId=12336&cmd=displayKC&dialogID=450383&ViewedDocsListHelper=com.kanisa.apps.common.BaseViewedDocsListHelperImpl&openedFromSearchResults=true

Is there a way around this?

Also, does anyone have a Sage import template that they can share?

Thanks in advance!

Supported transaction types are as follows:

Thanks Erzsi, I have looked at that resource and it doesn't indicate whether we can import an account code field.

Got you, I've forwarded this to the Sage 50 CA Support team to see if they chime in on this.

    Hi,

I don't believe you can import an account code using the .IMP file format.  If it's possible, it's not documented.

That capability was designed to work with exported / emailed .IMP files from a vendor that used Sage 50.  You can map vendor items to your own item codes, and item-to-account mapping in Sage 50.

You can, however, link most any appropriate account code to an inventory item, but you would have to set up inventory item codes (or just use the account numbers as Inventory or Service Items)

If you want descriptions and account codes without having to set up inventory items, I've played around with AutoHotKey, and it seems to be able to poke in anything that I can do from a keyboard.

If you are proficient in c#, you may be interested in the Sage 50 SDK.

And if not, or if your time is valuable, I know of at least one third-party developer data import product

    I hope that helps,

    Randy
