Auto open company?

I am using SA Premium 2010.

Is there a way to have the program automatically open my company file? I searched the forum and came up with a couple of posts suggesting to edit the target of the shortcut used, but when I do this Windows tells me the file location is invalid (maybe because of spaces in the folder and file names?)

Thanks for any suggestions.

Chris.

  • Maybe you could post what you are trying to enter so we can see what might be going wrong.  You have the correct answer but your syntax may not be correct.

    c:\Winsim2010\SimplyAccounting.exe c:\accounts\myfile.sai

    This works for me.

  • OK, the target at present shows

    "C:\Program Files\Simply Accounting Premium 2010\SimplyAccounting.exe"

    my company file is located at C:\Documents and Settings\pc\My Documents\Simply Accounting\X & Y.SAI

    so I ended up with a complete target of "C:\Program Files\Simply Accounting Premium 2010\SimplyAccounting.exe C:\Documents and Settings\pc\My Documents\Simply Accounting\X & Y.SAI"

Obviously your file locations are much simpler and more straight forward than mine - as far as I recall, I accepted the default file locations when installing Simply!

  • File path doesn't need quotes, only program path

edit:  Oops, sorry missed on the quotes myself.

Over 18 years of Simply consulting behind me.  My memory have never been very good.  it's too hard to track those kind of paths, let alone display them in dialog boxes.

  • Ignore that last email message.  The post on the forum is now correct.  I was doing two things at once again.

    "C:\Program Files\Simply Accounting Premium 2010\SimplyAccounting.exe" C:\Documents and Settings\pc\My Documents\Simply Accounting\X & Y.SAI

  • Perfect!

    Thanks for your help Richard.
