Sage File Name

SOLVED

I have recently created a number of new Sage files and input trial balances for the companies.  Two of these company files do not have quite the right name on them and it will get them mixed up with other companies.  Is there a way to change the name on the Sage file?

The easiest way is to use File, Save As and give it a new name.  The problem with that method is that it leaves the original file in the same location as before.

I prefer the manual method myself.  Let's assume the *.sai file is called ABCCompany.sai and the *.saj folder is called ABCCompany.saj.  I am going to change it to XYZ.sai

    ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR FILE FIRST!

    1) Close the program and make sure everyone else is out for 5 minutes.

    2) Then I wait one minute after close.

    3) Then in Windows/File Explorer I find the location of the files

    4) Select the ABCCompany.sai file and hit F2.  This will put you into edit mode (you can right-click and Rename also).  Change it to XYZ.sai.

    5) Do the same with the *.saj folder name but make sure it says XYZ.saj.

Then just open the *.sai file in Sage 50 again.

The *.sai and *.saj have to have the same name before the period.
