Sage PDF Converter failure

I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right section or not, so please advise me if I should be asking this elsewhere. We are running MAS 200 version 4.3 and are employing Paperless Office for the first time. All of our Sales Order users Print/PDF their invoices at the end of the day and all has been going well except for one user/PC. When this user prints her batch, the paper copies come out on the printer but she receives a Windows message stating that the document failed to print to the device "Sage PDF Converter". A check of the paperless office viewer confirms that no PDF's were created. When I re-run the batch on my PC, documents and PDF's are both created fine.

There are no indications of a problem in either the MAS Activity log or the Windows Event Viewer. I ran RegCom.bat, and when that produced no discernible results I uninstalled and reinstalled the client on that PC. Still, the problem remains. I am unsure of where to go from here. Any ideas?

  • It's XP SP3. There was no compelling reason to go to VIsta and plenty of reasons not to, so I never upgraded any of our workstations.
  • I have the PDF converter working on my Vista Ultimate (64-bit) workstation with Mas90 4.3.
After much angst and research, I found a knowledgebase article on the Amyuni website that helped.

The key is to create a new Local Port and give it a Portname (like: PDF1) and then change the Sage PDF Converter properties to use that port.

  • WE HAVE A WINNER !!!

alanrich, thankyou so much for the solution. While I definitely shared your angst, my research did not extend to going to the Amyuni knowledgebase, something I will remember in the future. Thanks again!!!

  • Happy to help!  :smileyhappy:

Now, to find a good "fix" for Faxing from vista within an SBS2003 environment.

  • Um, Windows 7?:smileywink:

  • I had all kinds of problems with the Windows 7 PC's when installing Paperless Office.  We are currently v 4.3 (upgraded from 4.0 to 4.2 to 4.3)

In order to the the Sage PDF Converter to install I needed to do the following:

    • Right Click on the MAS 200 Icon and go to Properties - Compatibility and run MAS in Windows XP compatibility mode.
    • use the Pl_advancedoptions_ui task in MAS and install the converter.
    • if the installation fails, verify that the files it is attempting to copy are in the MAS90\Home directory of the server.  If they are not there, then add them from a functioning workstation

Our Windows 7 PC's would fail installation becuase it was attempting the Windows 95/98/Me driver installation from the server, as identified in the installation log.  Once, I ran MAS in xp compatibility mode it installed the correct driver.

    Hope that helps someone.
