Purging TS Data

Using TS 2015

We purged TS data including A/R Transactions for 2013.  However, it appears to have purged only the payments, not the invoices, so now the client comes up as having amount due - invoices showing previous balance.  The only ways to fix this is to do a write-off, or re-enter the payment. Anyone know why this happened or what to do to fix it?

No clue why this happened but I am curious as to why you might have decided to purge just a year of transactions? My advice generally to clients is to make a copy of a Timeslips database (archive) and now purge closed clients in the active ongoing database. If you do conflict checks, you have two databases to run conflict checks in.

Hi Allen - thank you for responding. Our TS was going so slow that TS support recommended we purge data for ALL clients (we hardly have any closed), so we only keep three years of data in the software - we have been using TS for almost eight years. They told us to purge slip transactions, accounts receivable, funds transactions and split billing rules. The call/instructions were well documented, so I know I'm not crazy; however, after all this, I am thinking we will no longer purge A/R. This is the second time since I've been here this has happened, and each time, I have to go in and write-off or redo the payments to clear the invoices.

I am sure you are NOT crazy! Depending on the size of your database and number of users, TS 2015 and it's BDE database may not serve you well going forward. Give some thought to upgrading to TS 2017 which incorporates Firebird SQL database back end which eliminates any database size limitations in BDE and increases performance and data stability significantly.
