Is there a Batch/Script file to copy My Activities from one user to all users?

Is there a Batch/Script file to copy My Activities from one user to all users?

From within Timeslips, the procedure is: Names
User Info
Double Click on User
Click on Export icon
Remove all checkmarks in Fields
Place checkmarks as appropriate in Export To
[Export]

Depends what you are trying to do.

Do you actually have different Activity lists for different users? If not, you might want to turn off the My Lists feature under Setup, Features Enabled. (You will need exclusive access to the database to do this.)

With that feature off, ALL lists (Clients, Tasks, Expenses) are available to ALL users with no additional intervention necessary on your part.

I have established Task/Activities that are used for particular types of client projects. By using the My Activities feature, I am able to limit the Task/Activities my users see so that they don't choose one that is inapplicable to the type of project they are working on. Since this saves under my User profile, I want to be able to copy my Activities profile to my other Users. As I stated previously, I know how to do it "manually", but would like a batch file that I could run every night.

I cant think of any way to do this with the software. You can send a product feedback suggestion

Thank you for the added information. No, there is no batch file that will do that. My point was that if it is the same list for all users, then there is no need to use individualized lists.

If the lists do need to differ, then the feature is there for that purpose. The key here is the differentiating. I'm not sure how you would want the batch file to work.

As a tip, if you click on the My Lists tab first before clicking the Export button, it will check only the My List fields for export for you (so no unchecking needed, you could also RIGHT-mouse click and choose None to UNcheck all items in a list). Not much help, but every click counts. :-)

The lists themselves would be the same for every user, but based on the client on which they are working. For example, Project Type #1 would have 6 or 7 specific Task/Activities that are valid for that type of project. Project Type #2 would have 6 or 7 specific Task/Activities (some of which are also valid for Project Type #1). When I set up the client project, I choose the Task/Activities that are valid for that type of client project. Is there some other way to achieve what I am looking for?

I think what you are doing now is as close as you can get!

There are two ways to set up a custom list of tasks:
    * in Timekeeper Info you have the My List Setup page.
    * in Client Info you have the Activities page, which was introduced in Timeslips 2015

By your description, the latter sounds like what you want to use; you want specific activities to show up on the slip, based on the client you selected.

If you have Timeslips 2015 or Timeslips 2016, go to Help > Other Documents > Upgrader's Guide. Scan through to the changes for Timeslips 2015. I just check and there is a section there called "Setting Up Custom Lists of Activities for Clients" that explains the setup.

    Good Luck!

Thank you for your response. From how I read the manual, the Custom Activities are still linked to the "My Lists". I don't know how to make the chosen activities work for all Timekeepers. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using version 2015 or 2016? Those are the only two versions that have the Client level custom Activity list feature.

The idea there is that these are the only Activities that we want ANYONE using on this Client's slips.

Vs. a situation where we only want THIS Timekeeper to be able to use THESE Activity codes (My Lists).

Hope that helps explain a bit.
