TS 2014 Time in decimals

SOLVED

I have TS 2014.  We enter our time in decimals -- 10ths only (1 digit to the right of the decimal point).  Sometimes someone enters 2 decimal places by mistake which gets rejected by our clients' various electronic billing systems.  Is there a way to set TS to give an error message (or even better, to prevent) if someone enters more than 1 decimal place when entering time?

Do you use the rounding option under Client Information? That way any miskeyed slip would be rounded up to the closest .1 increment during the billing process and you should not have any of the bad slips in your exported file.

    Hope this helps.

The rounding option on the arrangement 2 screen gives the option of rounding "minutes" and "unit charge." So, if I want a time entry of "0.21" changed to "0.2" I choose "unit charge?" Also, can I set this up on the master client so I don't have to do it for each case?

I would set it to 6 minutes, and not unit charge. If they key it as .2, then it will stay at .2. If they key it at .21, then it will round it to .3 - it always rounds UP.

You need to set it for EACH client. You can export the setting for existing clients, but also want to be sure and set it as the default for new clients. Be VERY careful when exporting as you can really mess up the database. Make sure you make a backup first.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help. This is definitely not what I want. Too bad. Wish TS would give me the option of 1 decimal place.

    leslee2:

Can you provide more information on why this is "definitely not what (you) want?" Perhaps there is an alternative that will achieve your goal.
