Are slip transaction numbers generated sequentially, so that if you know the last number generated at a particular time you can restrict your selection of slips to that number? Is there a way to determine the last number generated at any given time?

SOLVED

We have many clients that belong to a professional association that pays all their legal expenses, so we run pre-bills with a cut-off date of Aug 28 for, say, twenty clients. These pre-bills are then reviewed and edited by the attorneys and then run again to make sure all the revisions have been made. After scrutinizing them a second time we then run bills and mail the entire batch to the association for payment. This process can take three or four days, during which no slips are entered into the system because often there are slips that are dated prior to the pre-bill cut-off and would thus show up on bills without review.

I am trying to find a way to restrict all bills to what shows up on the pre-bills without having to stop the data entry process while bills are being processed. I am hoping that all slips are assigned sequential  transaction IDs as they are entered and that, knowing the last transaction ID at the time of the cut-off, I can limit all billing activity to those slips with transaction IDs on or before that last number. Then it would not matter if on Aug 29 entered a slip for an expense incurred on Aug 17.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
