Outstanding balances not showing up on invoices

The problem has been described to me as.... The billing clerk is entering work performed by the lawyer in the client's accounts. You can see the information in the system under the client's account. When client's invoices are generated the outstanding balances do not show up on the invoice. We cleared all filters and problem persists. Could this be a procedural problem? Thank you for any insight you can offer.

Firstly, I apologize that this inquiry appears to have not been answered in this thread.

    Probable issues are that

    (A) the bills that are generated are never approved; the easiest check for that would be to look in the Accounts Receivable List (Transactions, Accounts Receivable) and View By, Client. If no INV type items appear, they have no approved invoices. Note that here is where you will see the current A/R Balance in the lower right corner.  When generating bills, they must be approved.  Selecting DO NOTHING will only print them, but cause Timeslips to ignore the bill generation. I personally call it the Sgt Schultz mode ... "I know nothink!, Nothink! I don't know what you are talking about Hogan..."

    (B) the Bill Layout has the A/R section removed or turned off.  To check that, review your bill layout (Bills, Bill and Statement Layouts...) by selecting your layout and then press Shift+Ctrl+L (Configure Layout Sections).  Verify that the appropriate items are selected such as Previous A/R Balance, Accounts Receivable Transactions and New A/R Balance.  These three items determine what will print on the bill in the A/R section.
