2014 Installation fails to launch

SOLVED

I've been trying to install for months my 2014 installation to a new computer (that doesn't have TS on it currently).  I bought it a long time ago.  I go to the website and download the software exe. I hit launch.  All that happens is that it installs Bing Maps 3d and then quits.  I've tried 20 times.


TS support is simply useless and unsympathetic.

    Do you have a different browser to try? It sounds like you might have a problem with your browser.

    Is this a workstation install or a "server" install? If a workstation install and it was installed on your firm "server" then you don't want to download. You want to go to the loclinst folder on the server and run the setup.exe from there, using the same path as is used on other workstations.

    Actually, the issue is related to a prior installation of that application that failed.  Not really a Timeslips issue, and one that you can find solutions for at Microsoft's support site.

    There is a workaround, and we at Timeslips have it documented in our knowledgebase article 16226 - 'Installation of Timeslips prompts to install another program'.

    Thanks !! it worked.  Now I just have to figure out how to get the upgrade to install on new computer where there is no previous version and my old laptop with it crashed.!!

    Go to Help, About Sage Timeslips 2014 and the press Support Info. Record the activation code on that screen as well as the serial number.  you can use that info to install to a new machine with no prior installation.

    The KB article 13615 - 'Procedures for re-installing or moving Timeslips to a new computer' - documents that procedure.
