IMPORTING BILLING DATA ORIGINALLY ENTERED INTO EXCEL TO TIMESLIPS 2013

I utilize a timekeeping service that enters my employees time into Timeslips.  They have provided my employee's billing data in excel format.  They have sent it via e-mail as an attachment.  I cannot remember how to import the excel data into Timeslips.  I need to capture this information this weekend.  Does anyone know where I can find the exact steps on how to import the excel billing data into my Timeslips 2013?  Thanks.

You need to convert the data to a csv file. Then go to TSImport. If you don't have a template already setup you will need to create one. You can read the help file on TSImport.

You will need to use the included TSImport program and write an import template that tells Timeslips how to "read" the data in the excel file.

This can be a challenge if you have not done it before.

If you are interested in hiring help, I have some availability this weekend.

    Hope this helps.

Just so you know, Timeslips cannot import Excel billing data, at least not directly.   You would have to save the data that is in Excel into a CSV file first.  As for exact steps, that's hard to say, since we don't see what is in Excel.  If someone has successfully imported it before, there is most likely an import template that was created.   How this all fits together is beyond the scope of a forum like this, but you can engage one of us Certified Consultants if you would like more specific steps.

I'm a bit confused.  Does the service enter the time into Timeslips or into Excel?

If you have data in Excel that you would like to import, you would use the free TSImport program included with Timeslips.   However, as Marc has said, you would have to save the data in Excel as a CSV file and build an import template in TSImport to tell Timeslips how to interpret that data.

Import templates from scratch can be a bit of a challenge if you do not have experience with it, which is why you might be better of engaging the services of a Certified Consultant who has "been there, done that" as they say.

    Hope this helps.
