Error - Some data may be damaged

Posted By Anonymous

Greetings!

I have a client using Timeslips 2009 and is receiving the following error.  I have restored latest backups and it doesn't resolve the issue.  I have also restored the database to Timeslips 2012 and it reproduces the same error (just for one user).  Can anyone provide some advice on how I can resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Some data may be damaged. This may be a temporary situation where your workstation is not yet updated with changes from another workstation.

  • First I would never upgrade to resolve an error. You want to fix the error, then upgrade.

You may need to do some data repair, which would require working with a certified consultant. However, there are a couple of  things you can try.

    1. Can you open user security within Timeslips? If so, check that the user with the problem has a profile. Try changing the profitle assigned to this user.

Assuming that does not fix it

2, You need to create a new, empty database. Go through the steps but don't put in a name or anything else, just create it.

Then using a copy of your real database - replace the userscty and profile tables in your database with the ones from the empty database.

Open Timeslips and the "fixed" database. Run data verification with only look for errors checked.

  • Caren is right on the money as always.  Just note that by replacing these tables, you will need to recreate your security settings and profiles.
