Program no longer works

Posted By Anonymous

Hello

I purchased Sage Timeslips 2011 earlier this year.  It has been running smoothly for the past three (3) months but no longer works.  A few weeks ago, I clicked on the icon and the program appeared to open and run, except no database ever loaded.  The top menu bar appears, but when I click on any of the icons or try to open anything, nothing happens/no response.  I shut down the program and reopened it and it worked fine.  However, now it is doing the same thing, not allowing me to access the database or use timeslips at all and no resetting, closing of the program, or restarting the computer has had any impact on it.

What can I do?

Would it help to reinstall the program?  Should I uninstall it?

I'm very disappointed with this program because it is only a few months old but since I did not buy the service package and its more than 30 days, I cannot get any phone support for this.

Thank you.

Also, I noticed that a post was also added to the Forum that claimed that the Sage Timeslips program "locked up" after the purchaser installed or ran TeamViewer.  I recently installed TeamViewer.  Should I assume that there is a relationship there?  I just closed the TeamViewer program but am still having problems with Sage Timeslips.

  • Sorry to hear about your problems with Timeslips 2011.  A couple of things that I have seen in my travels that can cause this:

If you are attempting to link to Outlook and your Outlook is in the "cloud" (i.e. Hosted Exchange).

Make sure the "telephony" service is running on your computer.

If you are single user and the database folder is in the default location, make a copy of your \data01 folder elsewhere for safety's sake and reinstall the application if you have the installation and reinstallation codes.

  • Hmmm...  We're running TS2009 (single license with some TSRemotes), thinking about upgrading to TS2012 (keeping the TSRemotes), and getting ready to switch over to Hosted Microsoft Exchange.  Should I be worried?  I do e-mail out a bunch of invoices each month, and it would be a serious problem if I had to manually send each one individually...

    P.S.  What is "telephony" service?

  • I think your "warning" should be taken with a grain of salt. I have a number of clients running Timeslips v2012 without problems.

Thank you for your reply.  I am not using Outlook.  I am using TeamViewer though.  When I closed out TeamViewer, Timslips automatically started working.  I guess the programs are not compatible?  Any advice on that?

  • Use LogMeIn instead. :-)

    Hope this helps.

  • Laurie Lynne,

I would only b e concerned with Hosted Exchange if you are linking Outlook and Timeslips.  The only reason I say this is that I have a client who was unaware of the default settings (TS and OL do try to link) and TS wouldn't open until we disabled that feature given their hosted exchange.

I don't know what the Team Viewer application does, but if there is an incompatibility, you will likely have to run one program at a time at this point.  Please report this to Sage here http://www.sagetimeslips.com/Products-and-Services/Product-Suggestions

  • Allen makes a good point.

How are you using TeamViewer? I.e., what does it do for you?

  • I have a client that had Timeslips 2012 working fine on Friday. Yesterday it did not work. After a lot of work and testing we discovered two things that must have gotten automatic updates over the weekend and caused problems.

    1. Team Viewer - we actually uninstalled as when we exited it didn't help and it kept restarting

    2. Logitech - Something to do with Logitech had something related to borland. I did not see it as the client found this in the startup under msconfig. I don't know if uninstall/reinstall of BDE would have resolved the problem.

TeamViewer is often used by IT people to look at computers remotely.

I was using TeamViewer and letting it remain open on my work computer so that I could access the computer and files from a remote computer.  Ideally I would have been able to also remotely use Sage Timeslips from the remote computer too.  Apparently not.  Now I can only run one or the other...
