Borland Database Engine file 'IDAPIxx.DLL' missing

SOLVED

Hello,

I am in the process of attempting to install Timeslips 2015 and the installation process stalls at a point where I am notified that the BDE file is missing.  I've have followed a couple of threads regarding this problem and have reinstalled the BDE per instructions given on those threads.  Unfortunately, when I attempt to install the BDE file after downloading it, I encounter error messages that include "missing disc" and c:\program files\borland\common files\bde\Idapi32.cfg  could not be opened.  I also received the error code 8456.

This may be relevant to the problems I am having, the fact that I had a new hard drive installed a few months ago and when the tech did the installation, he set them up as the I drive and J drive, rather than the typical C drive and D drive.  My C drive is set up as my DVD drive instead.

I have deleted and downloaded the BDE several times but in each instance, I run into a brick wall with the installation process and that, in turn, prevents me from being able to install Timeslips 2015.

If anyone has any sage (pun absolutely intended) advice as to how I might resolve these problems, I would be eternally grateful and indebted to you.

Thank you in advance.

For the life of me I cannot understand why your tech would have configured your system with the DVD drive as your C:\ drive.  I just can't see how that is not going to be a huge headache to you.

Allen is correct.  BDE wants to write some files to the C:\ drive.  It is hard coded in the BDE setup.  I don't know if, or how you could change it.

My advise would be to get the tech to fix the C:\ drive issue as well.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for the feedback!  I have put in the call to my tech expert and am going to have him reconfigure the drives.  I am hopeful that doing so will provide the solution for the problems I'm experiencing.
