Bill layout - can't get hourly charges to subtotal if bill also has expenses

Using Timeslips 2014 - have a detailed bill format showing activities subtotalled by hours & amount.  If there are no expenses on the bill, the hourly charges get subtotaled to "For professional services rendered", then the previous balance, then payments, for new balance due.

I had this figured out in an older version but I'll be damned if I can figure it out now.  If the bill has expense charges included, the hourly charges do not subtotal for a total time charge before the Additional Charges are listed.  I have spent hours looking at the old format which was working on an older version (TS 2009 I think) and I have not been able to figure it out.  It is really bugging me that I can't get it to work!

All tips are gratefully welcomed,

Can you send us a screen shot of your layout section?  It's definitely doable.  I created one in 2014 to test.

I have Time Charges from SLips, Total Time Charges, Time Charges from Expenses, Total Expense Charges checked, and it works.

Sounds like something not right in your bill layout. This is the kind of thing that is significantly faster and easier to fix by looking at it than through a remote conference like this. I would not expect it to be expensive to fix.

One thing you might try is to create a new bill layout. Does it work there? Then start making small customizations and test regularly to see when it "breaks"
