Sorting Pre-Bills

How do tag a pre-bill with what attorney the bill is to go to?  I just printed over 500 clients and some I'm not sure what attorney to have review the bill.

We setup a custom field so we can assign an originator to each client. When you print the pre-bills you can select the originator you want to print.

Ok Angela where do you put this in timeslips?

I see where we can tag what attorney but does this print on the pre-bills?

In Timeslips 2014 click on Setup from the top menu then Custom Fields. In the Client tab click New then Timekeeper. Enter the name of the field (we use Orig Attorney). You can check the box to make this a required filed when you add a new client. Then click OK. The field should appear in Group 1. Click OK again. Then open a client from your client list. The new custom field should appear on the Custom tab. Assign a timekeeper to the the client. When you go to print pre-bills you can add the custom field as a filter.

Hi Mieko, assuming all the client records have an attorney assigned, you would still need to either filter for that attorney alone OR sort the pre-bills by that field.  Please note my response to your private message and let me know if you would like to engage.  Thank you!

No it does not print on the pre-bills. You would have to add it as a field. I just add the attorney as the filter and print each attorney's pre-bills in groups. The first page of each group has the selection criteria so I know which attorney the pre-bills are for.

Thank you so much for your help Angela.  I am going to do what you are doing going forward but I have a ton of clients in timeslips now that do not have an attorney assigned to them.  I will need to figure out how to sort these.

Actually, Custom Fields do not print on Prebill Worksheets 'by default', but you can change that.

Just before you print the Prebill, click on the Options button in the lower left and check the option to Show-Custom Fields.  Your custom field with then also print on the individual Prebill Worksheet itself.  As well as being an option to sort or filter by.

    Hope this helps.
