Expiry Date Mass Modification

SOLVED

Hi Sage City,

Our company just found out that we have entered in incorrect expiry date when receiving raw materials for 3,000+ units. Does anyone have experience on how to mass modify expiry date before? Some of the units are in A status, changed by QC records and some of the units are still in Q status with incomplete QC records.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts,

YuPo

    Hi YuPo,

I would probably use the mass update function to do it.  That information is stored in STOLOT the stock/lot table.

Simply enter the following info into Development / Processes / Update transactions and enter the following info.  The gdat formula takes parameters gdat$(m,d,y) in my environment.

The REFPER is the reference date (the start of the expiry time)

The DLUDAT is the use by date date (probably expiry date unless you have a UBD coefficient)

The NEWLTIDAT is the recontrol lead time date (if you use recontrol)

The SHLDAT is the expiry date, this date actually prevents stock issue.

Then press the validation button, if there aren't any errors hit the exec button.  The hardest part I think is defining your criteria, you may not want itmref or lot in your criteria, or maybe you can define your criteria by some other field.

Thats my best guess, I would definitely try it in a test environment to get the criteria right.  But as far as I know thats the only spot expiry dates are stored.

    Best of luck

    Hi RegularGuy,

Thank you for the info here. I thought about it before, however; we don't feel comfortable to change the data in the table(STOLOT) since we are not sure if it will interfere with other functions, tables, resyncs process.

Do you have any other ideas?

    Thank you,

    YuPo

Well the GUI way to do it is through Inventory / Quality Control / Lot modifications / Characteristics change.

Create new, and change as appropriate.

There isn't a import/export template for these documents, but perhaps one could be made. The object is SMX and function is GESSMX.

In regards to your advise on mass update function. If we wanted to change the name of a product with a preexisting product, can we use the mass update? Also, if wanted to change the name of the product to a new name can this function be used?
