Getting The Most Out Of Your Post 

These guidelines are here to aid you with getting the most out of your forum post. If you find yourself in the situation where your questions often go unanswered it may be that your question necessitates too many follow up questions. Providing some basic information will help others to construct a helpful response. Confusion about your question is a leading reason individuals do not respond or their responses aren't helpful. To aid you in receiving timely and helpful responses these guidelines have been created. 

How To Ask Your Question

A well-formed, complete question can go a long way when requesting help from your forum peers. .Provide the basics and make it easy to read and you are likely to get the best response. Take time to construct a well formed problem statement, don't just wing your question and you'll be surprised how much people are willing to help.

Things to include (where possible):

  • Where exactly you are in within the Sage ERP X3 application.
  • Don't assume everyone has the same menu structure as you, be as specific as possible. 
  • When the problem happens
  • For whom it happens
  • What it affects 
  • When it occurs
  • Example: How often, such as every time, every other time or randomly
  • Did this just start happening or are you just getting around to asking?

  • What you expect to happen in a normal operating situation

  • Version Information
  • List the exact version of Sage ERP X3 you have a question about. Don't assume all versions behave the same and your version is just like another. 

Error Messages

Here are some generic guidelines when  asking for help concerning specific error messages:

  • Give the exact error message, don't be vague or provide an incomplete error message . 
  • Individuals may be searching the code for your specific error message in an effort to help you so be exact
  • Only put quotes around the error message unless the error is an exact literal replication of the original error
  • Whenever possible attach screenshots of your error and attach it to your post
  • Give ample information about the steps that lead up to your error

Please mark your post as answered if someone has provided you help. People like to know when they've helped someone out.

Asking For Answers To Be Sent To Private Email Address

Please do not create a forum post asking for an answer to be emailed to your email address. You would be surprised how many people may have the same question as you and may benefit from seeing the communication exchange all the way up to the answer. Oh and hey, this is why we host this forum anyways, to build a community. So, don't be afraid to play in the ball park.
