Sage CRE 300 migration to new server

SOLVED

I'm preparing to build a new replacement server. My current server is Windows Server 2008 with Sage CRE 15.1 (15.1.38 Rev 2 Acct Update 6). I'm considering Windows Server 2016 on the new server but reviewing specifications, I'm expecting I'll need to update the current Sage CRE 15.1 to at least 16.1 in order to meet the system requirements for Windows Server 2016.

However i read in "User's Guide for Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate Version 17.1" Page 8-9: "5. For Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, you must elevate your permissions before installing version 17.1. During certain installation tasks, you will receive a prompt to elevate your privileges. If you do not acknowledge each prompt within two minutes, the installation process will quit the task. If this occurs, you will receive a separate prompt asking you to retry the task. To retry the task, click [Retry] and then elevate your privileges at the prompt."

Is it possible I could migrate the current Sage 15.1 installation to Windows Server 2016 and it would function; or need to be immediately upgraded over the same session and be successful? Thanks in advance.
