Active Tasks

SUGGESTED

I tried to run a lease abstract in PM and received an error message. Now i can't close PM because it says "cannot exit with active tasks." but i can't find the report anywhere in the background.  If i try to run the lease abstract again - the selection is grayed out. It's like The system thinks its is generating the report but i can't see where and i can not clear it out.

Help?

If you go to the Windows menu in the software, does it show the report on the list? If so select it and it should bring the report to the foreground so that you can close it. If that doesn't work, try holding down the Alt key and pressing the TAB key consecutively to move the focus to the report and bring it to the foreground. As a last resort, close out all Sage applications that you can close normally, then use the Windows Task Manager to End Task on the report (it will either appear as Property Management or Sage Print Preview under the Applications tab). Since it's a report, it's not updating any data so you can safely End Task on it.

April, The report does not show in the Window's list. I did already use the Task manager and hit End Task. I also rebooted my computer. I then logged back on to Timberline and PM opened right up (like it never closed) and the Lease Abstract is still grayed out and if i try to properly close PM it still says there is an active task and can't close. I looked in the printer properties and there is nothing pending to print. Any other suggestions are appreciated. - Britney

It sounds like you access the software through a remote desktop connection or Citrix or Terminal Server, is that correct?

Depending on how you're configured to access the software on this remote connection, you may not have access to the Task Manager on that server. You may have to get your IT administrator involved to terminate your remote connection and/or restart that server.

I see. So when i am selecting task manager on my computer and hitting End Task - all i am really doing is ending my remote desktop connection which isn't the same as ending the timberline session. Is that what you are saying? If so i will email our IT guy. He can reboot the remote server. I had not connected those dots. Thank you.
