SQL backend SAGE 300 CRE

SOLVED

Is there a sage version that supports Hi availability DB's like MS SQL servers with the same interface as SAGE 300 CRE?

    Hi Mike,

I am not sure if I fully understand you question.  I sent you some information by email yesterday about the new Sage SQL Gateway and Executive Dashboard applications. Sage SQL Gateway replicates your Sage 300 CRE accounting data to a MS SQL database.

This is a product that is provided with version 14.1. Perhaps the tools provided with Sage SQL Gateway will be what you need in order to retrieve information using MS SQL.

Your business partner may be able to help you explore the options in greater detail.  As I mentioned in my email to you yesterday, it is generally not recommended to perform a major upgrade during year end, so make sure to read through all of the documentation so you can be best prepared to avoid any down time at this busy time.

One more thing I forgot to mention. If you are running Sage 300 CRE version 13.1 Rev 5 or greater, you do not need to upgrade to version 14.1 in order to install Sage SQL Gateway and Executive Dashboard.

(I will send you an email on this as well)

Knowledgebase Article 47283 outlines the requirements for use of these products and includes a link to download

I think we are at a point that load balancing DB servers would help SM performance, I think the SQL gateway will help indirectly when users are doing reports adding load to the PSQL DB.  Some days SM works  great other days it seems to hang when users are looking at the work-order listing for example.  It seems once one user slows down then the rest of the users lag.  What I think now is we need more parallel access.  Maybe mobile Tech-tool adds to the problem but it seems very random.

    Got it going yesterday.

I'm getting about 20 incompatable DB warnings are these DB's I should exclude or do they have problems?

    Some examples of error DB's

    GLT_SAVE NEW

    GLT_070511 ENTRIES

    CMT_Register

    CMM_Master

    JCM_Master 2

    Michael,

The Sage SQL Gateway is attempting to replicate all of the data it finds in your company data folder. These are data files that have been renamed. They were renamed using a previous version of the software and were not upgraded, thus they are truly incompatible with the current software.

    You can:

    1. Exclude them

    2. Attempt to upgrade them. If they were renamed due to a corruption, this probably will not work.

    3. You can move them out of your data folder.

You may want to call into support to help clean up the folder and help determine which files were actually renamed.

You can try using file tools to move, but again if corrupted, it may not succeed.

This is a Pervasive database based on the Btrieve architecture. There is a gateway file (ie. new.glt, register.cmt) and there is an associated data folder in the PVData folder at the same level (ie. new_glt, register_cmt). The Sage SQL Gateway is picking up that the data in this folder is not compatible with the current version of the software.
