What service do you use for parts and pricing in Service Management? Is it easy to import and update?
Hi Kathy,
Which Sage product are you using?
Thanks,
Derek
Sorry - I am using CRE300 v13.1.24
Thanks for the additonal information, Kathy. I am going to move your question to the Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate Support Forum so that other users will see your post and be able to offer their thoughts and insight.
Thanks,
Derek
Thank you for your post Kathy Shane!
We currently do not import/update the pricing of parts in Service Management via third party software. Parts and pricing are updated directly within Service Management.
If you're company uses both Service Management and our Sage 300 CRE Inventory module, you may follow the steps in article 22360 - "How do I update the sell price of an item or part when I use the SM Synchronization tool in Inventory?" to update that information. This article can be accessed by logging into our support knowledgebase with your registered user name and password.
Hope that helps!
This doesn't help, I already know how to update sell prices in SM/inventory. We do not have the separate purchasing/inventory module, as I was told we didn't need it when the system was purchased in 2005. I was told by the sales person that we could import inventory lists and update cost prices directly within SM/inventory. Eventually I had to hire someone to write a macro so that could be accomplished, however fields have changed and I would have to have someone rewrite it. I thought there might be an easier method other than separately entering updated costs for hundreds of parts. That is why I'm wondering what other companies do. Other than that issue, I love Sage!
Service Management does include the ability to import from Trade Service Pricing.
This option is found in SM>Setup>Inventory>Parts>Import Trade Service Pricing.
I am not all that familiar with how it works, but I know that the option is there to import in the traser pricing.
Thank you, Denise. I have a feeling something is amiss in my SM. I don't currently have or have ever seen the "Import Trade Service Pricing". My 13.1 goes: SM>Setup>Inventory>Parts> (then two options: Maintain Parts, or Update Selling Prices - neither of which have anything to do with Trade Service). Do you know if the import option is an add-in if you subscribe to Trade Service?
This may actually be an add on application. I will check on that and post further information as soon as I find out.
Sounds great, thank you!
Kathy, do you have Service Purchasing, or only Service Inventory?
It may be something that is only available when you have the Service Purchasing add on and would then still require a subscription with TRASER.
In order to determine if you have Service Purchasing (in the event that you do not know) when you are in Service Management, click on VIEW, then determine if you have the option to see Purchase Orders. I am looking into this further and will let you know what I find out, but let me know if you have the SM Purchasing add on or not.
Okay, I think I found the answer.
The option to Import Trade Service Pricing in Service Management must be made available to you through the Sage 300 CRE security in Desktop. If you don't have permission to the particular menu option, you may not see it on the menu.
Check with your IT or Sage administrator to see if this menu option has not been made available to you.
The following information is available in Service Management>Help>Contents>How Tos> Setup Inventory>Trade Service Pricing and importing
Import Trade service pricing and importing
Overview
Service Management provides a function to import parts and pricing information from Trade Service Corporation. This function is only available if you purchased Service Management's Inventory feature. Trade Service Corporation provides lists of standard parts for electrical, plumbing, and HVACR organizations. In addition to part numbers and descriptions, their data also includes typical cost and selling price information.
You have helped me with more with this issue in the last hour than anyone from Sage has in the last 9 years. Seriously. THANK YOU!
