We need to upgrade from 300 CRE 15.1 to 16.1.
Also need to upgrade from old server 2008 r2 to new server 2012 r2.
Will need to do it over a weekend, so I'd like to get the road mapped out as Specifically as possible.
Which is recommended?
1. - Upgrade current Server2008 15.1 to 16.1 them migrate to new Server2012
2. - Migrate 2008 15.1 to new 2012 machine then upgrade to 16.1
3. - Build new Server 2012, install clean 16.1, copy 15.1 data, upgrade files, crystal reports, etc.
I like the 3rd option, but just want to make sure I'm not missing a step that would rule it out. Once the old server is powered down, and all local DHCP/DNS records removed, never rebooting it would be perfect.
Because of the images in the TimberScan database, I plan to keep the "\\server-name" the same.
Also - I'm using Storage Craft Shadow Protect, so I'll have mountable images of the drives I can drag and drop the old server's data from at any time.
Any and all help is appreciated. As many specifics as possible because I won't be able to call sage support on the weekend.
Thanks,
Chad
