I have an employee that changed her last name.  Her existing employee id is the 1st four letters of her last name + the 1st four of her first name.  Is it possible to change her employee id to the 1st four of her new last name + the 1st four of her first name?

    Price,

Unfortunately you cannot change an employee ID. A chargeable key change is required to change this field. This is covered in article ID 33107 (Can I change an employee ID?).

The employee ID is a key field for the employee record.  Each employee has records that track the totals of all checks issued to that key field.

To change a key field value, you must have a key change completed. To schedule or get information on this service, please contact Sage 300 CRE Customer Support.

If you do not want to have a key change, you may choose to set the employee up again with a new employee ID:

    • You can create a new employee ID after you close year and before you issue the first check of the new year. The new employee ID stores the totals for the new year, but the old employee ID still stores the totals for the prior year.
    • You can void all of the checks on the old employee, then enter new checks to the new employee similar to how you would enter beginning balance checks. (check per quarter, check per month, check per week in current month).

Thanks Casey,  I had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to change it without creating another ID
