Going from Sage 100 ERP to Sage 100 CRE

I am entering payroll into Sage 100 CRE from Sage 100 ERP and Federal and State taxes are off. I called Sage CRE but they couldn't help and said best to override to match the ERP. I am getting down to the wire and am thinking of just finishing the year in ERP in just payroll and starting fresh in 2016 for Payroll but using CRE for everything else. I would just do JE for payroll in CRE.

Any insights?

  • Moving this question to the Sage 100 Contractor forum in the Sage Construction and Real Estate Support Group as this was posted in the incorrect group.
  • We work with Sage CRE and I think I understand your question. You are technically saying that the payroll calculations for Federal and State taxes are "off," or do not match the calculated amounts in ERP. So, in ERP record the tax rates from the payroll calculations...then in Sage CRE open the Payroll Calculations (5-3-1) and find the state and federal tax calculations and update them. Then trial calc your payroll in CRE and compare to ERP.

Of course your JE alternative would work to adjust the GL/ company financials, however the JE will *not* adjust our individual job cost reports. You will have to assign the direct labor amounts from payroll to a job cost account, and at that point it becomes a nightmare to get them to post to each and every job/ cost code (that is why the payroll calculator is so important & useful). So I suggest for the sake of your job cost level reports that you configure the payroll calculations in CRE to match ERP before posting any payroll to CRE.

Thank you! The calculations are done by a table. My Business Partner tells me these are built into Sage CRE.

Hi... in CRE open 5-3-1 payroll calculations, click the picklist arrow or (F5) to select the payroll calculation and update the Default Rate, Max for each

It is the Federal and State taxes that are off. They have no max.

Gotcha. Fed and State taxes are rolled into the software updates. Is it possible that the CRE version and the ERP version are running two different tax builds? if ERP was updated at end of FY2014 for 2015 tax rates, and you installed the newest CRE version, then the tax tables may be different...ie Sage 100 v19.7 uses 2016 tax rates.. I would look into finding out what version of each you are running and then cross-checking with the software updates on the Sage portal to see that you're running the correct version of CRE for 2015 taxes. Good luck.

Since federal and state withholding are both deductions they do not affect job costing. Therefore you can override them to get the net check correct. You should also check the marital status and exemptions claimed to make sure they are the same in both softwares. But I agree that the JE at year end will not get you the job costing you want.
