Should we switch from Sage 50 to Sage Construction & Real Estate

SOLVED

We are an Electrical Contracting company and have been using Sage 50 for 5 years.

We don't track inventory through Sage. We do track projects, but find it kind of tedious.

Would you suggest we switch to Sage Construction? Is it that much better for tracking?

Please let me know what you think - or maybe a link to article or video that will show me the big differences?

    Hi Kim

I'm not familiar with Sage 50, but it doesn't appear to be geared toward construction at all.

Sage 100 is designed specifically for construction, has been around for decades, and has many benefits.

Here is a link to a you tube video called "Sage 100 Contractor Overview" by CFO on the Go

We are doing exactly that right now, Sage 50 doesn't do what we need, so we have high hopes for 100.

Great! The next question is whether you do construction jobs or "service" locations or BOTH. Service jobs are one shot repairs or maintenance and are driven by work orders that are billed directly from the same record. Jobs have budgets and change orders, and are billed over time and you can do certified payroll for. Please reach out to CFO on the Go for more information on upgrading to Sage 100 Contractor. Make sure you say Contractor to get the right product. I work with them as an implementation specialist and consultant and have specific electrical experience. Where are you located?

Ottawa, Ontario. And we will be implementing Sage 100 for about 15 companies under one roof. Granted some are just holding companies, but our bread and butter comes mainly from 3 main companies - Plumbing & Heating, Electrical and Homebuilding. So......my challenge is setting all these companies up, they all work slightly differently so I can't replicate very easily. Watched a few CFO on the go videos, learning as we go. Would love to know how to get all our historical Sage 50 data over :-)

We do both construction jobs & service. What is CFO on the go? What's the advantage of purchasing/upgrading through CFO on the Go compared to directly through Sage account manager?
    We are located in Alberta.

Also, what's the cost compared to Sage 50? I can't find it on Sage website.

Pricier than 50, and you pay for each module you need, and licenses. CFO on the go is good for an insight of the program.

Yes there are additional modules that not everyone needs so to keep the cost of the core program lower they aren't included. They are:
    Service Receivables / inventory
    Document Control
    Estimating
