Need feedback on running Sage 100 Contractor on a cloud server

SUGGESTED

We are considering using a company called TRAPP Technology to host our Sage 100 Contractor in a cloud environment.  We did a trial run and it performed perfectly with only 2 virtual desktops.  However, it didn't take long to realize that upgrading to the SQL based version 20 presented some interesting challenges.  You can't open the Database Administrator from a remote connection so some important admin functions can't be accessed.  Also, the physical database is hidden in the root partition that is inaccessible with a remote connection.  I was wondering if anyone has found a way to deal with this other than calling the service provider to do it for you.

You may want to post this in the Sage 100 Contractor forum.

The answer to this depends on how they set up your cloud environment. If they set it up as a remote application, where you simply double click the Sage icon to remote into the software, then you are right. You can't open the Database Administrator to do the admin functions. I would recommend talking to the provider and requesting that they give you at least one rdp login. This would work by clicking your start menu, selecting 'Remote Desktop', entering the computer name and joining with the appropriate username and password. It ends up looking like a new desktop, but would allow you to perform any of the admin functions necessary.

We are running SAGE 100 Contractor off of a hosting server. We have two ADMINS that can access the Database Administrator and the License Administrator programs as well as any other programs we run off of the server. All users can use Microsoft Office and other apps on the server that they need to access.
We switched to a hosted server in February. We have had a few issues, but the hosting tech support has done a fantastic job making sure that we are running smoothly. They've had to work with our mobile app tech support as well.
Our biggest issue is making sure that our in house internet is good enough to support the users that RDP into sage.
    Hope that helps!
