Sage 100 Contractor version 20.4 Permissions Overwritten

Has anyone else had any problems with Sage 100 Contractor version 20.4 where permissions on the Company folder inside SAGE100CON are being overwritten by the MSSQL$SAGE100CON account that causes users to get an "Access Denied" error? This started happening shortly after migrating from 19.7.28 to 19.8, then to 20.4. At first it was random folders inside Company. Now it's every time I try to migrate any 19.8 company databases to 20.4. The entire Company folder permission inside SAGE100CON is wiped out and replaced with MSSQL$SAGE100CON. I've talked with Sage tech support last week and they don't have an answer and recommended calling Microsoft since Sage is now SQL based. Microsoft had me upgrade to latest service pack for SQL Express. They also had me run some SQL commands to see if it helps reset the permissions with no luck.

Hi Ranel. Go into Database Administration > Toolbox > Server Tools, and select option to create a SQL account for the NTAuthority/System Account, then click Create Account. Then restart the SQL Server (SAGE100CON) service. If this does not resolve, please call back into support so we can further troubleshoot and escalate if needed. Thank you.

    Hi GHollister,

Just an update for you. The solution you recommended worked to a certain point. Now I can migrate the remaining companies to the new version 20.4, but it replaced the folder permissions to System, Administrator (local account), and MSSQL$SAGE100CON. So I re-added Domain Users and Domain Admins. I had one of the users try to access the main company and they received a pop-up window saying they didn't have access to the company and that an admin would need to add them using 7-2-2. I attempted to launch the Database Administrator console to check the user's access to the company; but when I selected the company and the user, the console crashed. The SQL Server SAGE100CON service would not restart, even after a server reboot. I ended up calling tech support and they had me change the SQL Server SAGE100CON service account from NTService\MSSQL$SAGE100CON with the "Local system account" which seemed to work. I will do some testing and post updates.

I concur, this is an issue as my cloud hosted customers all had their permissions changed by the tax update which then blocked them from running the Aatrix forms update in order to process weekly certified payroll reports.

I am still having problems with the permissions being wiped out. I have not tried converting any other company databases to the latest version until a resolution has been found. I have an appointment with Microsoft tech support this week to see if they can help with the issue since Sage tech support recommended I contact them.

Had to get Microsoft SQL tech support involved. They ended up changing the "Log On" account for the SQL Server (SAGE100CON) service from the local system account to the domain administrator in order to fix the problem.
