In version 20 and subsequent versions, payroll record numbers do not reset to 1, but continue with the sequence of the prior year. I believe this has to do with needing to bridge company year folders for some ACA reports. So, if the last record of 2016 was 534, the first payroll record of 2017 will be 535. That's the way its designed, no problem here....
