I'm using Sage 100 Contractor 2016.

I'm sitting here wracking my brain to understand what circumstances might cause the condition you describe. The only thing I can come up with is that your user has been denied rights through the security system to change the Job Status field. Can the supervisor (in v19) or someone with administrative rights (in v20) change the field?

Even if I log in with Administrator rights AND exclusive access I am still unable to change the job status. Any already existing jobs the status drop down is greyed out.... whether they are set to Current or Bid. The only thing I can do is go to Options in the menu bar and change Current ones to Closed/Complete. But can't change the Bid to Refused (or reopen a job if necessary).

I'm pretty sure this problem started when I moved from Version 19 to Version 20.

Have you gone through the F7 menu for the status field to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary?

That was it! For some reason it was defaulted to "Lock After Save" when we updated to the new version. Thx!
