New York State Family Leave Act

SOLVED

When are the updates coming to payroll?  The deductions could have begun 7/1/17but there has been NO communication from Sage as to status; instructions; etc. etc...  My boss is wondering when we can begin deductions but cannot until instructions and/or updates are sent.  I run payroll in house and have done it for 11 + years.  I hope I chose the correct category and sub category because nothing matched this questions.

When are the updates coming is NOT WHAT IS Paid Family Leave.  It DID NOT slip under the radar.  I know all about the program!! What I need to know is how Sage is implementing it in the payroll program and when we will be receiving instructions/updates etc...

I say it slipped under the radar, because it was not in the last service pack that had tax table updates for 4 states. (mid July)

According to the NY state web site, an employer could start collecting as soon as July 1 2017, but the program begins 1/1/18. [ This is what I considered under the radar ]

I included the link, so if a Sage team member reads our messages, they can ask their managers. and then get back to you.

Also, NJ , CA and 1 more state have similar programs to the New York program.

You may be able to use the KB article (if there is an article) on how those 4 other states are processed in Sage BW payroll.

You still have not answered my questions which are  WHEN IS THE UPDATE COMING AND WHEN CAN I BEGIN THE DEDUCTIONS!!  I AM NOT reading or looking for an article the may / or may not exist.

Maybe our next payment should 'slip under the radar' if the update is not forthcoming.

    Thank you

    SUGGESTED

Jarlid-  There is a Knowledge Base article #84923 "What needs to be done in Sage BusinessWorks for NY State Paid Family Leave effective January 2018".  There are no necessary changes to Sage BusinessWorks program to accommodate New York Paid Family Leave. Like many states for additional pay, you can create a deduction plan for the insurance premium.  Some companies may need to file Third Party sick pay.  In the article above, it also has additional attachments on how to create a deduction or Third Party sick pay information.

    Thanks,

I have set these up before but for my understanding I now have to figure every single one by hand because SAGE DOES NOT have the ability to figure a percentage.  So I will need to set everyone up with a different deduction; if anyone works overtime I will have to refigure the deduction.  So yes the answer is correct but NO the answer is was not what I was looking for.  Please "unslip this from under the radar" and fix this in you next update.  Unfortunately this is another 'nail in the coffin' for Sage and will add it to my list that have NEVER been addressed!!

I agree with jarlid that giving your customers the "resolution" of manually going in to each employee and calculating the tax rate is ridiculous. Obviously, Sage is not interested in customer service and will eventually lose customers due to their inaction. Sage, what you must realize is that the individuals that are using your product have other duties and responsibilities. The reason they purchased your software was to get assistance, not add to their workload.

Could any of you help me step-by-step/screen by screen of how to do this? Our accountant was trying to work on it and he's out of commission recently, having been in an accident, so he's of no help. I need to know know what screen and fields to do this in. The articles don't really help me with this. I just need the steps spelled out for me. The articles don't really explain this well.
